How to Get Your Real Estate License

The first step in getting your real estate license in Wisconsin is to sign-up for the 'Sales' pre-licensing course.


In Wisconsin, a candidate for a real estate license must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and complete 72-hours of instruction before taking
the state exam.

Wisconsin real estate licenses are issued by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). Steps for receiving your license are:

  1. Complete 72-hours of required real estate pre-license education, within 6-months of registration.
  2. Pass the state exam.
  3. Submit application to the DSPS, including proof of completing
    education or credentials. A course completion certificate is provided
    after successfully completing the WRA sales pre-license course. Must apply for licensure within one-year of passing the state exam.

How to Get Your Real Estate License

The first step in getting your real estate license in Minnesota is to sign-up for the 'Sales' pre-licensing course.

In Minnesota, a candidate for a real estate license must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and complete 90-hours of instruction before obtaining a real estate license.

Minnesota real estate licenses are issued by the Minnesota Department of Commerce. Steps for receiving your license are:

  1. Complete 90-hours of required real estate pre-license education, including three 30-hour approved courses (course I, II, III).Pass the state exam.
    • Course I (30-hours) - must be completed prior to taking the real estate exam.
    • Course II & III (60-hours) - can be completed either before or after the exam, but must be completed prior to applying for a real estate license.
  2. Pass the state exam.
  3. Work with a licensed Minnesota real estate broker to submit application to the Department of Commerce, including proof of completing education or credentials. Must apply for licensure within one-year of passing the state exam.
